China Business Development Lead

First Code Academy is empowering Asia’s next generation to become creators of technology by teaching kids age 6 to 18 about programming, design and entrepreneurship. Since 2013, we have taught thousands of students in various Asian cities and are continuing to expand our global presence.


About the role

  • This role requires a high level of creativity and long-range planning. It is about wearing multiple hats as needed to propel the operations forward. Successful BD managers excel in both big picture strategic thinking and get-your-hands-dirty hustling.

  • You drive effective sales & marketing strategy and execution to reach new students and extend the First Code brand. Thorough understanding and solid network in local market is crucial in coming up with city-specific strategies and partnerships.

  • Partnership development, parent liaison and relationship management, PR, team recruitment all falls under your responsibilities.



  • Grow First Code presence from grounds up, work closely with founder and launch team

  • Expand footprint of the early cities (Shanghai and Shenzhen) and establish a solid customer base

  • Identify, negotiate and form top-tier partnerships that propel growth of the company in China

  • Establish a strong local brand in each city

  • Strengthen relationships with parents through seminars and workshops

  • Monitor the budget to ensure cost effectiveness and maintain the sustainable growth

  • Build high performing teams from grounds up



  • 5-7 years of Sales & Marketing of a high end consumer product (education is a plus but not required)

  • 2+ years work experience in Shanghai. Bonus if currently based in Shanghai

  • Entrepreneurial and independent thinker

  • Analytical and data-driven

  • Fluent in Mandarin and can read and write Chinese
