SUSTAINABLE EVENTS AND PROGRAMMES

Biji-biji is a social enterprise that promotes sustainability in Malaysia. We create social and environmental impact in Malaysia by offering both companies and individuals solutions that support their efforts to be more sustainable. We offer accessible, interactive and collaborative approaches to sustainability through art and design, creative building, sustainability consultancy and alternative energy technologies. Biji-biji production is currently operating at our Biji-biji factory in Klang.

Biji-biji has developed Me.reka Makerspace into our main education center which is wholly-owned by Biji Biji Design Sdn Bhd. Me.reka Makerspace is currently operating at Publika in Kuala Lumpur. Me.reka is an innovative and alternative education space, created to challenge the limits of 21st Century designing and making. Me.reka aims to nurture the seeds of creativity; developing talent and entrepreneurs for the industries and businesses that will shape the future of tomorrow.

Responsibilities

About the Job:

-          Front person for the Sustainable Events and Programming team;

-          Engage with Clients, running research in procuring from green and ethical suppliers, and getting your hands dirty in building and production;

-          Play an active role in event set up, tear down and logistic arrangements; and

-          Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

-           To work closely with the Events & Programming team in managing clients and projects;

-          To be Front of House in ME.REKA Makerspace and handle walk-in clients;

-          To research, propose and prototype new workshop/programming modules;

-          Tasks may also include some manual labour e.g heavy-lifting, unloading lorries, event set-up and tear-down;

-          You may be required to work evenings, nights and weekends for event set-ups and tear-downs. Replacement leaves and/or allowance remuneration will be provided in these instances; and

-          Other tasks and responsibilities, not limited within the Sustainable Events and Programming team, as and when needed.

Requirements

Job Requirement:

-          Possess background or interest in Green Management, Mass Communications, Event Management, Event Marketing, Business Management, Project Management, and Education/Training experience or any related field;

-          Proficient in English and Malay written and communication skills;

-          Interest in prototyping new workshop modules, including testing, design, and writing modules;

-          Interest in client and project management and researching;

-          Interest in conducting workshops;

-          Soft Skills: Great team player, ability to stay calm and positive, good communication and social skills, creative, openness to learn and try new things; and

-          Able to deal with ad-hoc challenges, keep calm in pressing situations, be flexible with last-minute changes, and still have a positive attitude throughout.
