6degrees is a connected, always-up-to-date phonebook that lets you find people on your friends' phones, with their permission, and get introduced through mutual friends. 6degrees already has 60,000 active users in 6 months, part-funded by the Singapore government, and has won several prestigious awards including being in the global top-10 at Seedstars World in Geneva. 6degrees has been chosen by India's 2nd-largest smartphone maker Lava to be the default, native phonebook on their phones - the first time a startup has penetrated this deep into the OEM software stack.

I attribute a lot of our success so far to our splendid work environment that fosters freedom, creativity and problem-solving. We love working with young engineers with outstanding algorithmic minds, irrespective of their experience in handling certain technical platforms. Domain experience is secondary, but a love for computers and technology is primary, along with a voracious appetite for thinking about solutions to problems.

We started 6degrees in order to create a trusted, private network between people's phonebooks, so they'd never lose touch with anyone, unless they wanted to. The phonebook is, in our view, the original social network, and represents our universe of connections better than any other platform. 6degrees aims to give all smartphone users around the world a vastly improved phonebook experience.
