Founded in 2013 by former investment banking professionals, Gatecoin is a regulated online trading platform for cryptocurrency and blockchain assets. We enable individuals and institutions around the world to invest in bitcoin, ether (Ethereum) and other financial assets linked to blockchain technologies.
Leveraging our exchange facility, we also partner with banks and payment service providers to facilitate low-cost, cross-border money transfers using blockchain technology.
As established experts in the blockchain ecosystem, we develop smart contracts and build custom distributed ledgers for financial institutions across the globe.
Since 2014, we have been incubated by Tsinghua University and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation and in 2016 we participated in the SuperCharger FinTech Accelerator sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank, Baidu and TusPark Global Network.
Gatecoin also benefits from a technological sponsorship provided by IBM, under the Softlayer Catalyst program, and we are a strategic partner for Microsoft Azureâs Blockchain as a Service (BaaS) initiative.
We won the 2014 Best Start-up Prize for Central and East Asia at Talent Unleashed (Sir Richard Branson and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak were part of the jury).
Our CEO, Aurélien Menant is one of the founding members of the Bitcoin Association of Hong Kong.
Our offices are located in the heart of Hong Kong, Asia's bustling, well-connected, cosmopolitan commercial hub.
